Windy, registered as Bae Wind+//, is the horse that started it all. Daisy and Windy have been on quite a journey together. In 2003, they attended the Inaugural Arabian Sport Horse Nationals coming home with three Top Ten awards in dressage. The following spring Windy foundered due to insulin resistance. Through helping Windy recover from laminitis, Daisy started her hoof care career which has led her to help thousands of horses since! The number of lives this horse has touched is stunning. Thank you Windy, for all you have taught us!
After foundering in 2003, Windy recovered and went back to dressage competition, earning many regional and national awards.
One of the biggest lessons Windy taught Daisy is about body condition. Windy’s body changed from grossly overweight when he first foundered, to very lean but poorly muscled from being sick and out of work, to lean but fit and well muscled, all over a period of four years:
In 2011 Windy was diagnosed with EPM, and was sadly retired from his performance career. Windy is now 28 years old, and living a happy healthy retired life at Daisy Haven Farm.
